MEET THE TEAM 

CAMILA SOLIS-CAMARA for VP Finance

Camila is a sophomore studying financial engineering. She was born in Cancun, Mexico and grew up in Miami, Florida. She is passionate about reducing the stress culture in SEAS, and believes that she can do so by making student life more affordable and enjoyable. She hopes to accomplish this by increasing CPS funding, expanding student group funds, allocating Bacchanal funds more efficiently, increasing financial aid transparency, and creating better connections with alumni to facilitate internship search. On campus, she can be found working at Columbia Business School, participating in service events, and relaxing on Butler Lawn.

LAL UNCU for VP Student Life

Lal is a Turkish student from the Class of 2020 who wishes to pursue a degree in Industrial Engineering with a minor in Economics. She is very passionate about gender equality for which she has campaigned, and giving back to the community as she’s gone to Nepal for tutoring. As a member of the Columbia Daily Spectator, Habitat for Humanity, Turkish Student Association as Community Involvement Manager, and spending all her time at JJ's, she has heard the voices of members of the Columbia community. She wants to listen to those voices and assure the best student life for students.

ANA HUGENER for VP Communications

Ana Hugener is a SEAS sophomore from Chicago, Illinois studying Financial Engineering. She is currently the Publicity Chair for Scientists and Engineers for a Better Society (SEBS). As the Publicity Chair for this club Ana must communicate with members of the club about their responsibilities for events, create Facebook events to publicize the events, and organize flyer distribution. Ana is also the Co-Publicity Chair for her sororities’ spring Philanthropic event. Through her experience in publicity, Ana has learned the value of transparency and empathy within communication and hopes to better these characteristics in conversations occurring in the Columbia community.

AARON THOMPSON for VP Policy

Aaron Thompson is a SEAS sophomore from Atlanta, GA studying Mechanical Engineering with a focus in automotive engineering. Aaron remains involved on campus as a system head in Knickerbocker Motorsports, a perennial competitor in intramural basketball, and a member of the National Society of Black Engineers. His involvement in these different activities has introduced him to SEAS students with a wide variety of backgrounds, interests, perspectives, and aspirations. He hopes to leverage this experience with SEAS’ incredibly diverse students to improve the relationship between students and ESC as Vice President of Policy.

ONUR CALIKUSU for President

Onur Calikusu is a sophomore studying Mechanical Engineering. Onur’s pronouns include he, him, and his. He is originally from Antalya, Turkey, but moved to the United States at the age of 14. His favorite TV shows include Game of Thrones and Westworld. He has also served as the Vice-President of SEAS Class of 2019 as a first-year. He is passionate about ESC and wants to improve the community.
